Enterprise Development Programme

Sustained and inclusive economic growth can drive progress, create decent jobs for all and improve living standards. Globally, real GDP per capita and labour productivity have increased, and unemployment has dropped back to pre-financial-crisis levels. However, sluggish growth overall has prompted a rethinking of economic and social policies to achieve the transformational objectives of Goal # 8 so as to meet economic growth targets in least developed countries; increase employment opportunities, especially for young people; reduce inequalities across regions, age groups and genders; decrease informal employment; and promote safe and secure working environments for all workers.

To contribute in the SDG # 8, TIME has initiated Enterprise Development Programme which is the most innovative programme of TIME working on sustainable businesses for urban and rural economic development. We support and guide where the potential is high, impactful and sustainable. The purpose of this programme is to promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all. The core functions of EDP are given below:

  • Organizational Development/New Business Startup/Upgrading Existing Organizational Systems
  • Youth Enterprise Development Training Programme
  • Micro Financing

Education and Literacy

TIME works on SDG # 4 – Quality Education: Education enables upward socioeconomic mobility and is a key to escaping poverty. Nevertheless, millions of children are still out of school, and not all who do attend are learning. More than half of all children and adolescents worldwide are not meeting minimum proficiency standards in reading and mathematics. Disparities in educational opportunities and outcomes are found across regions and lag behind. As a result, many students are not fully prepared to participate in ahighly complex global economy. That gap should provide the incentive for policymakers to refocus their efforts to ensure that the quality of education is improved, and that more people of all ages can access it. Therefore, to support the SDG 4 TIME will be taking multiple steps to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning through its Educational Support Programme such as TIME Schools and Teachers Training Progamme.

Health

TIME works on SDG # 3 – Good Health and Wellbeing: In fact, at least half the world’s population, many of whom suffer financial hardship, are still without access to essential health services. In rich and poor countries alike, a health emergency can push people into bankruptcy or poverty. Concerted efforts are required on these and other fronts to achieve universal health coverage and sustainable financing for health; address the growing burden of non-communicable diseases, including mental health; and tackle antimicrobial resistance and environmental factors contributing to ill health, such as air pollution and the lack of safely managed water and sanitation. Therefore, TIME’s health support Programme is taking multiple initiatives to ensure healthy lives and promote wellbeing for all at all ages through TIME clinics/hospitals, TIME mobile clinics and Health Workers Training Programme.

Climate Change

Pakistan’s vulnerability to climate change and other disasters is high. The country ranks seventh on the Global Climate Risk Index of countries most affected by climate change from 1996 to 2015. In the last decade, a range of disasters triggered by natural hazards have affected over 50 million people and caused US$25.5 billion in damages and 80,708 fatalities.

Reducing disaster risk and increasing the resilience of people and systems are therefore not optional, but mandatory from a national development perspective.  As DRR is an important issue for Pakistan, TIME has been working in this areas in accordance with its respective mandate and core competencies like enhancing Government and non-government capacity to reduce disaster risk at the national, provincial and district levels, and to support to community resilience building for at-risk communities.
